Head of People Operations, Privy
Before the implementation of Happy5, Privy relied on Google Spreadsheets to manage their employee performance review process. At that time, the company did not utilize any dedicated employee performance review software, as they were still navigating the complexities of developing an effective evaluation system. The team at Privy was in the midst of an important exploration to identify the best practices for reviewing employee performance, seeking to create a process that was both comprehensive and equitable.
In addition, Privy was focused on refining their internal goal-setting framework. The leadership recognized that establishing clear, measurable objectives was crucial for aligning individual contributions with the company's overall mission. However, without specialized tools, the process of managing these goals was often inconsistent and time-consuming.
The reliance on spreadsheets highlighted the need for a more efficient solution, one that could streamline performance evaluations and enhance clarity in goal management. As the team worked through these challenges, it became evident that a structured and thoughtful approach to both performance reviews and goal setting would be essential for fostering a culture of growth and accountability within Privy.
During the implementation process, Privy found that one of the most valuable aspects of Happy5 was the team’s support in helping them set up and define their goal management system. Happy5 introduced the team to the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) methodology and even supported them in reviewing their company's OKRs via the Happy5 OKR tool.
This initiative ran concurrently with their performance review process. Privy aimed to integrate existing 360 review practices into the new Happy5 system.
The transition was seamless; the team did not need to alter their performance review process when transitioning to Happy5. Any technical training and issues were swiftly resolved by the Happy5 Customer Success team.
Privy heavily utilizes Happy5 to manage and track their OKRs and performance reviews. The data from the quarterly and annual OKR performance is in turn used by managers when conducting their employee 360 reviews.
The company is still adapting to this new shift but the management unanimously agrees that this is an opportunity for the organization to level up to new heights.
Today, Privy has successfully implemented a well-oiled performance management system that allows for the management of goals and tracking of performance review data, streamlining a process that once required extensive manual oversight.
Employees can easily access their performance evaluations results through the platform, enabling them to view their performance metrics directly. Additionally, they receive feedback from their supervisors and peers within the same system, fostering an environment of open communication and continuous improvement.
Moreover, Happy5 serves as an invaluable platform to Privy for managing their company and team goals (OKRs), providing the organization with the tools necessary to oversee team dynamics and monitor progress effectively.
While the team is still working to enhance the platform's utilization, the platform has already proven to possess the flexibility and granularity essential for managing access and data. This capability allows different levels of the organization to tailor their use of the platform to meet specific needs, ensuring that all team members can engage meaningfully with their goals.
The ability to track performance and manage performance reviews through a centralized system not only increases efficiency but also promotes a culture of accountability and alignment. As Privy employees gain more visibility into their own goals and those of their colleagues, they are now better equipped to collaborate and contribute to the organization's overall success.
